Real Places 2023 Conference

The Texas Historical Commission’s Real Places conference brings together the people who make historic preservation in Texas happen. It provides public officials, stewards, and professionals from the fields of preservation, travel and tourism, archeology, architecture, engineering, real estate development and more, a platform for listening to, learning from, and sharing ideas with some of the leaders in the business.


Real Places 2023 will take place February 1-3 in Austin
in person, and will be available online

Real Places 2023 will offer three full days of conference sessions Wednesday through Friday, February 1-3, 2023. Featured speakers include
Sara Bronin, a Mexican American architect, attorney, professor, and policymaker whose interdisciplinary work focuses on how law and policy can foster more equitable, sustainable, well-designed and connected places;
Caroline Klibanoff, program manager for Made By Us, a cross-institutional collaboration from America’s leading history organizations to engage the public, especially young people, with history and civic participation;
Montopolis, an indie chamber music group from Austin that blends country and folk idioms with modern classical arrangements, inventive instrumentation, and video accompaniment to draw attention to the natural wonders of our state, country and planet; as well as an exciting slate of other speakers who have not yet been announced!
