Quanah Parker Day in Texas

Avatar

By proclamation of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Saturday, September 12, 2020, has been declared Quanah Parker Day to commemorate the legacy of the famed Comanche chief Quanah Parker. In the Texas Plains Trail Region, one of the ten regions designated as part of the Texas Heritage Trails Program of the Texas Historical Commission, volunteer leaders launched a Quanah Parker Trail project in 2010, which has organized some regional events and avenues for participating in the statewide recognition.

Find out more about the special celebrations in the Texas Plains Trail Region and decide which celebration you’d like to join on Saturday, September 12. Take a virtual tour, visit a museum, take a photo with one of the Quanah Parker arrows and more!

See the Texas Plains Trail website or the Quanah Parker Day Facebook Event.
